Drive from Arusha through the Rift Valley to Lake Natron and the base camp at the foot of Ol Doinyo Lengai (900 m). Afternoon rest, gear check, and briefing. Early dinner at 18:00. Sleep 19:00–01:00.
Depart at 02:00. Steep ascent up volcanic ash and rock. Reach the active crater rim at sunrise (2,878 m) for views across Lake Natron, the Rift Valley, and Kilimanjaro. Explore the extraordinary carbonatite lava fields. Descend before 10:00 to avoid heat. Return transfer to Arusha.

About This Package
Ol Doinyo Lengai is one of the world's most extraordinary volcanoes — the only active carbonatite volcano on Earth. Its lava is unique: it erupts black, cools white or grey, and creates a bizarre lunar landscape at the summit. The Maasai people consider it the "Mountain of God" (Ol Doinyo Lengai). The climb is a steep, unrelenting ascent up loose volcanic ash and rock, starting at 2:00 AM to summit at sunrise and descent before the midday heat becomes dangerous. The views from the summit extend across Lake Natron, the Ngorongoro highlands, and on clear days, Kilimanjaro. A truly unique East African experience that can be combined with the Great Migration safari season.
