Day-by-Day Itinerary
Drive to Arusha National Park. Trek through wildlife-rich savanna to Miriakamba Huts (2,514 m).
Climb to Saddle Huts (3,566 m). Afternoon walk to Little Meru (3,820 m). Early dinner and sleep.
Midnight start. Dramatic crater rim traverse to Socialist Peak (4,566 m) at sunrise. Descend to Miriakamba Huts.
Descend to Momella Gate. Transfer to Moshi. Rest day to recover before Kilimanjaro.
Transfer to Machame Gate (1,830 m). Trek through rainforest to Machame Camp (3,021 m).
Trek through heath and moorland to Shira Camp (3,840 m).
Acclimatise at Lava Tower (4,630 m), descend to Barranco Camp (3,976 m).
Climb the Barranco Wall. Traverse to Karanga Camp (4,035 m).
Short climb to Barafu base camp (4,673 m). Rest and prepare summit gear.
Midnight start to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) via Stella Point. Descent to Mweka Camp (3,068 m).
Descent to Mweka Gate (1,640 m). Certificates for both mountains. Transfer to Moshi or airport.
